In the late 1980s, growing concern for the environment led to new EPA regulations. Which, in turn, generated great demand for UST leak detection solutions. In answer to these pressures, Simmons SIRVEY Corporation was founded to provide UST regulatory compliance services to petroleum marketers. Today, because of their technological achievements and innovative thinking, Simmons is recognized as a leader in leak detection and monitoring science.

Statistical Inventory Reconciliation (SIR) was Simmons first service. To reduce data entry and lower the cost of SIR, Simmons built strong relationships with industry leaders who could electronically send data from their systems to ours — AIMS, Inc. (www.profdata.com) ; Tank Management Services (www.tankmgmt.com); The Pinnacle Corporation (www.pinncorp.com) are among the strategic alliances formed.

Simmons recognized that the information captured for the SIR process was ideal for improved fuel management. A cost effective way to automatically collect the data would allow for ROI in the inventory of fuel tanks. Planned fuel purchases to achieve just-in-time fuel levels and fuel purchased at “the right price” are among the ways tank owners can take advantage of that inventory data!
